Arts in Education in Latvia: State of the Art & Best Practices. National Report Summary

The development of a creative, open, respectful, and knowledgeable society – encompassing the preservation and growth of cultural resources, the formation of high-quality cultural environments, the acquisition of cultural knowledge, the expansion of cultural awareness, and the cultivation of cultural experiences – is a key priority of the Latvian state (Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, 2010). This summary provides a brief overview of analyses of cultural awareness and expression (CAE) as a vehicle for achieving state sustainability, economic growth, and wellbeing, based on official policies, academic literature, and examples of best practices/projects in Latvia.
