VEIP Open Protocol 0.1.0: Founding Public Working Draft

  • 1. Veraxis Research Group

Description

The Veraxis Execution Integrity Protocol (VEIP) is an open protocol for representing, binding, transporting, and independently verifying evidence associated with consequential machine execution.

VEIP 0.1.0 is published as a Founding Public Working Draft for implementation, testing, criticism, and revision. It defines a common structure for preserving execution-time claims concerning authority, identity, policy, evidence, scope, temporal validity, permitted action, and execution context.

VEIP addresses a recurring architectural boundary in institutional AI: a computational system may correctly authenticate an actor, evaluate an encoded policy, enforce a decision, and preserve a complete execution trace while remaining unable to establish the institutional legitimacy of every premise it consumes.

The protocol therefore distinguishes:

  • computational correctness from institutional validity;
  • authorization from runtime admissibility;
  • authentication from authority;
  • attestation from institutional grounding;
  • execution from institutional consequence;
  • consequence from downstream reliance.

The founding release contains the normative protocol specification, schemas, formal invariants, governance and versioning materials, the VEIP Improvement Proposal process, release notes, and machine-readable citation and release metadata.

VEIP does not manufacture legal, factual, or institutional truth. Its purpose is to preserve the provenance, scope, context, temporal validity, and reliance conditions of externally grounded claims when those claims are consumed by computational systems.

The Veraxis Research Group serves as founding protocol steward. Stewardship is directed toward maintaining coherence, interoperability, inspectability, reproducibility, accurate attribution, and a public change record. It does not confer exclusive ownership of Institutional Computation or prevent independent, compatible, competing, or alternative implementations.

Status: Public Working Draft.

This release is not a formal international standard, regulatory approval, certification, legal determination, or evidence of adoption or endorsement by any organization unless expressly documented.
