Expressive Biology-Based Bio-Beauty Art: Conceptualization and Creative Potential

This study aims to conceptualize expressive biology-based bio-beauty art and to explore its aesthetic characteristics and creative potential. This study adopted a qualitative and conceptual research approach, conducting a literature review and analyzing representative case studies. The findings identified three defining characteristics of expressive biology-based bio-beauty art: process-oriented aesthetics, ethical and ecological relationality, and the reconceptualization of the body. These characteristics provide a conceptual foundation for the expansion of aesthetic values, the promotion of sustainable creative practices, and the development of expanded modes of bodily expression. Bio-beauty art is defined as an expressive biology-based artistic practice that explores the relationships among life, environment, and beauty through the body. The proposed conceptual framework has the potential to broaden the scope of contemporary beauty art and to provide a foundation for future practice-based research and the development of expressive biology-based bio-beauty artworks.
