We gratefully acknowledge Dr. Josh Posner (1947–2012), whose vision and leadership established WICST in 1990. At a time when agricultural research largely emphasized simplified production systems, Dr. Posner had the foresight to incorporate organic farming, rotational grazing, diversified cropping systems, and whole-farm systems research into WICST's experimental design. Nearly four decades later, these once-marginalized approaches have become central to addressing many of agriculture's greatest challenges. His commitment to long-term, large-scale agricultural research created a living scientific legacy that continues to advance discovery, inform management, and train future generations of agricultural scientists.
