B-Cubed workshop report: From data to trends (17-19 March 2026, Brussels)

Description

Workshop Report
From Data to Trends: Workshop on indicators and metrics for tracking biological invasions
17-19 March 2026, Brussels

Governments face increasing pressure to develop robust indicators that can track trends, inform management actions, and support reporting obligations. However, significant challenges remain. Biodiversity data are often fragmented across sources, vary in quality and standards, and are not always easily translated into indicators to track biodiversity changes.

This workshop, organised under the B-Cubed (https://b-cubed.eu/) project, aimed to address these challenges in the context of biological invasions through a technical exchange among experts working on invasive alien species and indicators of biological invasions. The event brought together representatives from national agencies of Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, South Africa, and the United Kingdom, research institutions, international organisations (IUCN), and the European Commission, to share experiences and identify common approaches in applying IAS indicators and their reporting.
