Assessment of the water quality of the Southern Bug River within the Vinnytsia region according to ecological and sanitary criteria

The aim of the study was to assess the water quality of the Southern Bug River within the Vinnytsia region by comparing the measured parameters with national standards and reference values, as well as to assess the ecological state of the river. Even though the results were within the normal range, the river is in an unsatisfactory ecological condition. In June, the concentrations of some substances, including phosphorus phosphates, exceeded the reference levels by up to eight times. Such significant deviations indicate ecosystem degradation, intense anthropogenic pressure, reduced biodiversity and deterioration of the oxygen regime.
