Description

This repository contains the processed dataset and Python replication script for the manuscript titled "The Ecological Activity Index tool for mapping potential ecosystem exposure to ocean alkalinity enhancement". The raw, underlying data was retrieved from the publicy available EcoMon (accessible at https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/access/metadata/landing-page/bin/iso?id=gov.noaa.nodc:0187513), Aqua MODIS Level-3 (10.5067/AQUA/MODIS/L3M/CHL/2022), endangered species and fishing footprint (accessible at https://www.northeastoceandata.org) databases. The dataset consists of individual tabs for 'Species monthly occupancy', 'Bimonthly species abundance', 'Annual fishing footprint', 'Annual Averages+SD in subregion', 'Metrics', and 'EAI'. The included Python script was used to apply weights to the annual mean metric values and to conduct the sensitivity analysis of the resulting EAI values.
