Technical Scoping Note IV.V (NCT IV.V) Heroism as a universal mechanism of reorganization The Spectral Shield, porosity and critical transitions in complex systems
Authors/Creators
Description
Complex systems – whether biological, physical, social or artificial – undergo
phases of order and disorder. Understanding these transitions is crucial for medicine,
economics, physics and artificial intelligence.
The present NCT IV.V proposes an operational framework, the Spectral
Shield, which formalizes these transitions through five state variables: Symmetry
(S), Entropy (E), Desymmetry (D), Insymmetry (I) and Porosity (P).
We identify a critical threshold (E/S ≈ 1/3) as a tipping point observed in
simulations. In this critical zone, a rare event – heroism – can emerge and enable
a structural reorganization towards a new state of symmetry.
The framework is explored across six distinct domains: biology, physics, artificial
intelligence, economics, society and medicine. Quantitative validations are presented
in the companion code (DOI to be assigned). Results show that heroism emerges
when Insymmetry is high, Symmetry is weakened and Porosity is open. Its absence
leads to systemic collapse.
