Ghassemlou, The Messenger of Peace
Authors/Creators
Description
Dr. Abdulrahman Ghassemlou was the leader of one of the most dynamic and resilient struggles against the Islamic Republic of Iran. He is regarded as one of the most prominent Kurdish leaders with a strong academic background.
On July 13, 1989, as Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI), he traveled to Vienna, Austria, to participate in peace talks, where he was assassinated at the negotiating table by diplomats of the Islamic Republic of Iran. His murder, apart from being a grave act of terrorism, aimed to silence a rare democratic voice in the Middle East.
This book aims to present Dr. Ghassemlou to English-language readers from his Democratic Socialism perspective that is largely absent from existing literature.
In this book, Reza Fathollahnejad acts as editor, translator, and contributing author. He is a Kurdish journalist and political analyst. Politically active from a young age, he has remained committed to contributing to the pro-democracy movement across Kurdistan. With an academic background in general philosophy, he brings his critical inquiry into his writing on politics.
