Description

This document presents the Portuguese National Report, prepared by Centro do Estudos Sociais - Universidade de Coimbra. The report is the result of research conducted within the framework of the european research project CLICK.


The CLICK project aims to foster collaboration among families, educators, and policymakers to address violence and discrimination affecting LGBTIQ children, while promoting their well-being through an intersectional perspective. Within this context, the present report provides an in-depth analysis of the Portuguese case, combining desk research, qualitative interviews, and quantitative data to explore the experiences, needs, and challenges faced by LGBTIQ children and rainbow families.


The document includes an overview of the legal and political context, empirical findings on lived experiences and institutional practices, as well as an assessment of well-being, resilience, and community responses. It concludes with a comprehensive evaluation of existing gaps and opportunities, including a SWOT analysis and a set of recommendations aimed at improving policies and practices to better protect and empower LGBTIQ children in Portugal.
