Description
Abstract
The Global and the Local in Social and Ideational Space explores the complex interplay between global transformations and local realities in contemporary society. As globalization reshapes economic, political, cultural, and communicative structures, it simultaneously raises fundamental questions about identity, belonging, values, cultural memory, and the resilience of local communities. Bringing together perspectives from philosophy, sociology, history, cultural studies, religious studies, and political analysis, this interdisciplinary volume examines how global and local processes influence both social reality and the ways individuals interpret their place in an increasingly interconnected world.
The collection addresses a wide range of contemporary issues, including changing value systems in the context of globalization and digitalization, human–nature relationships, cultural authenticity, collective memory, ideological narratives, migration, diaspora engagement, social innovation, and identity formation under conditions of social and geopolitical change. Particular attention is devoted to the challenges posed by migration and integration, the politics of memory in the information age, alternative forms of spirituality, and the impact of the war in Ukraine on individual and collective identities.
By highlighting diverse theoretical approaches and empirical studies, the volume provides a nuanced understanding of the tensions and connections between global influences and local experiences. It offers valuable insights into the social, cultural, and ideational processes that shape contemporary societies and contributes to broader discussions on globalization, identity, and social change.
