Abstract:
Entrepreneurship plays a pivotal role in economic development by fostering innovation, generating employment, and enhancing competitiveness. Over the past decade, India has witnessed rapid growth in entrepreneurial activity, supported by policy reforms, digital transformation, venture capital inflows, and government initiatives such as Startup India and Make in India. This research paper examines the structure, growth drivers, challenges, and impact of the start-up ecosystem in India. Using a mixed-method research design, the study analyzes primary survey data from entrepreneurs and secondary data from policy reports and industry sources. The findings indicate that policy support, access to funding, technological infrastructure, and incubation networks significantly contribute to start-up growth, while regulatory complexity, funding gaps, and market competition remain major constraints. The paper concludes that sustained ecosystem development requires integrated policy support, innovation-driven education, and improved access to early-stage capital.
