D3a.1 Odorization policy for hydrogen distribution networks
Authors/Creators
Description
Odorisation is a proven safety measure in natural gas networks. By adding an odorant to naturally odourless natural gas, leaks can be detected quickly by the public. This HyDelta project has investigated the possible odorization options for the future Dutch hydrogen distribution network. The aim of the project is to provide guidance for network operators and, in particular, for policymakers who are responsible for developing policy and legislation for the new hydrogen distribution network. The starting point of the study is the current practice of odorization in the Dutch natural gas network, using THT as the odorant.
