The increased need for the transportation of huge amounts of shipments has increased the number of routes that each logistic company has to perform. However, unexpected vehicle-related events may occur during the transportation of shipments and cause significant delays. In this paper, we propose a real-time mechanism to allocate resources to cover the logistics needs and a monitoring scheme to continuously attend the transportation of shipments with the fleet of each logistic company. We aim to detect possible unexpected events by applying an event processing upon real-time logistics data and propose mitigation strategies relying on a rule-based mechanism. We evaluate the proposed mechanism through various experimental scenarios to expose its applicability in real cases.
