The VeritasJet Map™: A Data-Driven Representation of Aircraft Performance and Network Accessibility – Version 2

Abstract

This paper introduces the VeritasJet Map™, a data-driven framework for representing aircraft performance in a continuous space defined by network accessibility and scale efficiency. Conventional aircraft comparison methods rely primarily on nominal metrics such as range and categorical segmentation, which do not fully capture the operational constraints governing real-world performance.

The proposed approach models aircraft using multiple interacting dimensions derived from manufacturer specifications and infrastructure constraints, including reachability, runway accessibility, payload–range behavior, cabin utility, and efficiency. Dimensionality reduction techniques are applied to reveal the underlying structure of the performance space while preserving most of the observed variance.

The resulting representation exhibits a structured geometry in which aircraft cluster according to mission profiles and align along an efficiency frontier reflecting trade-offs between scale and accessibility. A key finding is that increases in nominal range produce diminishing returns in effective network accessibility due to infrastructure constraints.

Although the analysis focuses on business aviation, the framework is generalizable to broader aircraft classes. The results suggest that aircraft performance is better understood as an emergent property of interacting constraints rather than a set of independent specifications.

The VeritasJet Map™ provides a consistent basis for aircraft comparison, supporting more informed decision-making and offering a new perspective on the structure of the aircraft performance domain.
