MONTEVITIS Climate Normals and Bioclimatic Indices for Montenegro

Description
This dataset contains climate normals and bioclimatic indices generated within the MONTEVITIS project for Montenegro, supporting climate-change impact assessment, vineyard suitability analysis and climate-smart viticulture planning.
The dataset provides ensemble-based climate indicators derived from the MONTEVITIS climate projection framework, based on nine global climate models and processed into climate normals for historical and future periods. The underlying climate projections were downscaled for Montenegro using the CHELSA-ISIMIP3b methodology.
The dataset includes climate normals and derived indicators for three Shared Socioeconomic Pathway scenarios:
* SSP1-2.6 – low-emission climate-protection pathway;
* SSP3-7.0 – medium-to-high emission pathway;
* SSP5-8.5 – high-emission fossil-fuelled development pathway.
The indicators are provided as ensemble means across nine global climate models, enabling robust assessment of projected climate conditions while reducing uncertainty associated with individual climate-model outputs.
The dataset contains climate and bioclimatic indices grouped into several categories:
* standard climate variables and aggregates, including temperature, minimum temperature, maximum temperature, precipitation, solar radiation and growing-degree-day indicators;
* climate-extreme indices, including consecutive dry days, frost days, heat-wave and warm-spell indicators, precipitation extremes, tropical nights and growing-season indicators;
* viticulture-specific indices, including the Winkler Index, Huglin Index, Cool Night Index, Hydrothermal Index, Selianinov Hydrothermic Index, De Martonne Index, growing-season temperature and precipitation indicators, and temperature-sum metrics relevant to grapevine development.
