Comparing the Effect of Career Counseling Based on Job Crafting and Career Cognitive-Social Counseling on Work Engagement among Teachers

This study aimed to compare the effect of two approaches of career counseling based on job crafting and career social cognitive counseling on work engagement among teachers. The present study was applied and was conducted by utilizing single-subject experimental design. All primary school teachers in Isfahan city in 2022 established the statistical population. Six individuals were selected using available non-random sampling. Each group comprised of three participants. The research tool was Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES). Data were analyzed based on inter-condition and between-condition visual analysis indicators including the changes of middle, mean, level and Percentage of Non-overlapping Data (PND). In order to analyze the results, the mean of visual analysis indices between baseline and intervention conditions was compared. The findings, in addition to the effectiveness of both interventions in enhancing work engagement, indicated that career counseling based on job crafting at the beginning, early stages, middle of the sessions, and end of the intervention and also in terms of data percentage indices and non-overlapping data has been more effective on work engagement. Considering the effectiveness of career counseling based on job crafting on work engagement, this career counseling can be employed to generate and improve work engagement.
