Engaging communities to turn publications into FAIR, open biodiversity data
Description
Every year, taxonomic data is published in over 2,000 journals, adding to more than 500 million pages of legacy biodiversity literature. Much of this information remains locked in publications and is inaccessible to digital workflows.
Plazi converts taxonomic treatments, names, figures, tables, material citations, and references into FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data. By combining expert curation with automated workflows, Plazi unlocks and publishes biodiversity data for research, conservation, and global infrastructures, liberating data on over 10,000 new species annually.
