The Conceptual Model of Understanding (CMU) presents understanding as the emergence of coherence from uncertainty. It proposes that understanding does not begin from fixed certainty, but from an initially open field of possibility shaped by context, stabilised through coherence, and altered through consequence.
CMU provides the foundational conceptual layer for the wider True Understanding framework. It does not present a final theory of knowledge, consciousness, science, education, or technology. Instead, it offers a disciplined structure for describing how coherent understanding may emerge, develop, destabilise, and be revised while remaining accountable to uncertainty.
This document introduces the core CMU sequence, establishing the conceptual orientation from which later TU expressions progressively develop:
Uncertainty → possibility → context → coherence → actualisation → Recursive Trace (the accumulated structural consequence of of prior actualisations)
CMU is intended as a conceptual and interpretive framework rather than a replacement for existing disciplinary knowledge.
This document forms part of the True Understanding (TU) framework series, alongside TU-ISF, TSU, TTU, THU, and TUEF.
