Formulation And Evaluation of Poly-Herbal Medicated Baby Shampoo
Description
The present study aimed to formulate and evaluate a safe, effective, and natural poly-herbal medicated baby shampoo using herbal ingredients such as Amla (Phyllanthus emblica), Soapnut (Sapindus mukorossi), Shikakai (Acacia concinna), Bael fruit (Aegle marmelos), Curry leaves (Murraya koenigii), Rice water, Sunflower oil, Guar gum, Cedarwood oil, and Jasmine oil. These ingredients were selected for their cleansing, conditioning, nourishing, moisturizing, and hair-strengthening properties. The herbal baby shampoo was prepared using suitable extraction and formulation techniques and evaluated for various physicochemical parameters including appearance, odour, pH, viscosity, washability, pourability, dirt dispersion, texture, foaming capacity, and solubility. The formulated shampoo exhibited good cleansing action, satisfactory foam formation, acceptable pH, and excellent conditioning properties. It was found to be mild, safe, and suitable for the sensitive scalp and hair of infants. The study concludes that the formulated poly-herbal medicated baby shampoo can serve as a natural alternative to synthetic shampoos, providing effective hair cleansing and nourishment with minimal risk of irritation or adverse effects. The formulation promotes healthy hair growth, maintains scalp health, and offers a gentle hair care solution for babies.
