TPHT diagnostic visualisation of selected super-droplet histories in a DYCOMS-II RF02 stratocumulus simulation
Authors/Creators
Description
This video supplement accompanies the manuscript “A Lagrangian Particle Tracking Framework for the Super-Droplet Method in SCALE-SDM 5.2.6-2.3.1: Implementation, Computational Evaluation and Two-Pass Hybrid Tracking” submitted to Geoscientific Model Development. The video shows a three-dimensional diagnostic visualisation of three TPHT-selected super-droplet target histories in a DYCOMS-II RF02 stratocumulus simulation over 0–70 min.
Grey shading represents the Eulerian cloud-water field (Q_C), and orange-red square markers represent the Eulerian rain-water field (Q_R). The three selected target histories correspond to the predecessor-chain examples shown in Figure 5 of the manuscript. They are marked as Target a, Target b, and Target c, corresponding to panels (a), (b), and (c) in Figure 5, respectively. Marker and trajectory colour indicate target super-droplet radius. Trajectory segments are not connected across periodic lateral-boundary jumps.
The visualisation is intended as a diagnostic illustration of the TPHT reconstruction workflow, showing how selected target histories can be inspected together with contemporaneous Eulerian cloud and rain fields. It is not intended as a causal formation-mechanism analysis.
