Common Flare-associated Prominence Eruption on the Active M Dwarf AD Leo

Stellar flares and associated coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are key drivers of magnetic activity and space weather on low-mass stars, yet direct observational evidence for stellar CMEs remains limited. We present time-resolved spectroscopic observations of the active M dwarf AD Leo obtained with the Lowell Discovery Telescope during two full nights in February 2025. Four flares were fully captured at high cadence, allowing us to track the detailed evolution of chromospheric emission lines.
All four events exhibit pronounced blue-wing enhancements in the H$\beta$ line throughout their flare evolution. Double-Gaussian fits reveal a distinct blue-shifted excess component in each case, indicating outward-moving cool plasma consistent with prominence eruptions or CME-like mass motions. The recurrent nature of these signatures suggests that prominence eruptions may commonly accompany M-dwarf flares when observed with sufficient temporal resolution.
