Argumentación y emoción en los discursos retóricos del «Quijote» de Cervantes [Argumentation and Emotion in the Rhetorical Speeches of Cervantes's "Don Quixote"]

RESUMEN: Aunque tradicionalmente se ha descrito a Cervantes como un «ingenio lego», el análisis de los discursos retóricos de sus personajes evidencia que conocía perfectamente la preceptiva retórica de su época y que supo sacarle un partido extraordinario. En este trabajo se analizan dos discursos retóricos (uno de tipo deliberativo y otro de tipo judicial) pronunciados por personajes de la segunda parte del Quijote, mostrando que emplean brillantemente tanto los recursos racionales como los emocionales para persuadir a sus destinatarios. Por ello, la recuperación de la preceptiva retórica y el análisis de su uso por parte de Cervantes resulta esencial para comprender en profundidad la naturaleza y maestría de los discursos de sus personajes.

ABSTRACT: Although Cervantes has traditionally been described as an uneducated person, the analysis of the rhetorical speeches of his characters shows that he was perfectly familiar with the rhetoric of his time, and that he knew how to make the most of it. In this work, two rhetorical speeches (one deliberative and the other judicial) delivered by characters from the second part of Don Quixoteare analyzed, showing that they brilliantly use both rational and emotional resources to persuade their recipients. For thisreason, the recovery of rhetorical norms and the analysis of their use by Cervantes is essential to understand in depth the nature and mastery of the speeches of his characters.
