The AstroDB Toolkit: A collaborative data management tool for astronomical datasets
Authors/Creators
Description
We present the AstroDB Toolkit, a collection of tools intended to make it easier for astronomers to build and collaboratively maintain their own databases of data related to astronomical objects. The toolkit consists of a template database and a companion python package, astrodb_utils, and AI tools in astrodb-bot. The proof-of-concept application is the SIMPLE Archive of low mass stars, brown dwarfs, and exoplanets (https://simple-bd-archive.org/). We are actively seeking to collaborate with individuals and projects in the early stages of building a database to help build out this tool and generate documentation for the community. The AstroDB Toolkit is openly developed on GitHub at https://github.com/astrodbtoolkit/ and the documentation may be found at https://astrodb-utils.readthedocs.io/.
