An Open-Data Pipeline for Measuring Occupational AI Vulnerability

Description

An open-data replication of Manning and Aguirre's (2026) occupation-level analysis of U.S. workers' adaptive capacity to AI-induced job displacement. The pipeline reconstructs a four-component adaptive capacity index (net liquid wealth, growth-weighted skill transferability, geographic worker density, and age) alongside occupational AI exposure, substituting public OEWS area employment and Census Gazetteer land-area data for the original study's proprietary Lightcast geographic-density measure. Across 388 Modified SIPP occupations (95.6% of the U.S. workforce) it recovers the paper's central finding that AI exposure and adaptive capacity are positively correlated (employment-weighted r = 0.474).
