GENETIC AND GENEALOGICAL TYPOLOGY IN LINGUISTICS

This article explores the theoretical foundations of genetic and genealogical typology in linguistics, examining how languages are classified according to their historical origins and family relationships. The paper discusses the development of the comparative-historical method, the structure of language families and branches, the concept of proto-languages, and the significance of genealogical classification for understanding linguistic diversity. Special attention is given to the place of the Uzbek language within the Turkic language family and its genealogical connections.
