Fire Behaviour Metrics under Different Management Scenarios in Ogliastra, Sardinia, Italy
Authors/Creators
Description
This dataset contains simulated wildfire behaviour metrics for the Ogliastra region (Sardinia, Italy) under three alternative fuel and landscape management scenarios: (i) forest management treatments, (ii) wildland–urban interface (WUI) fuel treatments, and (iii) a landscape mosaic management strategy. For each management scenario, wildfire simulations were performed under both present-day and future (2050) climatic conditions. Simulations were conducted for three prevailing wind directions (W, SW, and SE), representing the most common wind patterns associated with wildfire events in the study area. The dataset includes spatially explicit outputs of key fire behaviour metrics, including fireline intensity, conditional flame length, burn probability, and crown fire potential. In addition, a weighted-average scenario combining all meteorological conditions is provided to represent the overall expected wildfire behaviour across the range of simulated weather conditions. The dataset is intended to support the assessment of management effectiveness in reducing wildfire hazard and improving landscape resilience under current and projected future climates.
