Brighton Collaboration Case Definition levels of diagnostic certainty (LOC) for acute multi-organ dysfunction (aMOD)

Description

This Levels of Diagnostic Certainty (LOC) chart for acute Multi-Organ Dysfunction (aMOD) is part of the aMOD case definition. This provides a standardized framework for assessing and classifying cases of severe adverse events of special interest (AESI), based on diagnostic extent and certainty of organ dysfunction across multiple organ systems.

The aMOD case definition can be applied for “severe X-like illness” following vaccination against a particular disease. aMOD is included in the recently released Ebola AESI list and will also replace the “severe x-like disease” AESI in other priority pathogen AESI lists.

The full aMOD case definition and companion guide will be available soon.
