Flare cascades: a statistical overview from TESS 20-s data
Authors/Creators
Description
Are stellar flares independent or mutually triggered? This aspect has implications both on their modelling and on estimating their impact on exoplanet atmospheres. We identify signatures of correlated flaring in both single-and multi-peak flares, and compare their energy and morphological parameters using widely-adopted metrics. We study a homogeneous sample of F2 V to M5 V targets observed by TESS at 20-s cadence, which allowed us to resolve complex flare profiles and assess the stellar activity level via the Rossby number.
