Art as an Anthropological Contemporary Epistemology

  • 1. Chair of Art and Technology Catholic University of Valencia

Description

This working paper proposes that contemporary art should be understood not merely as an aesthetic practice but as a legitimate form of anthropological knowledge. Drawing upon artistic research, phenomenology, Fluxus and the legacy of Joseph Beuys, the paper argues that the creative process itself constitutes an epistemological event through which human beings generate symbolic, embodied and relational forms of understanding.
