METHODS FOR DEVELOPING STUDENTS' MEDIA LITERACY AND INFORMATION SECURITY

Description

In the twenty-first century, rapid technological advancement and the widespread use of digital communication platforms have transformed the educational environment and the ways in which students access, process, and share information. Media literacy enables learners to critically evaluate media messages, identify credible sources, recognize bias, and make informed decisions, while information security equips them with the skills and awareness necessary to protect personal data, maintain privacy, and engage safely in digital environments. Educational institutions play a crucial role in fostering these competencies through innovative teaching strategies, curriculum integration, digital citizenship education, and collaborative learning approaches. This article examines the theoretical foundations of media literacy and information security, analyzes the challenges faced by students in the digital age, and explores effective methods for developing students’ competencies in these areas. The study highlights pedagogical approaches, technological tools, and institutional strategies that contribute to creating informed, responsible, and digitally resilient learners.
