Description
Abstract
This study evaluates the seismic performance of a 10-storey RC building with fixed-base, HDRB, and
LRB isolation systems using ETABS, based on IS 1893 (Part 1): 2016 and IS 456: 2000. Response
Spectrum and Nonlinear Time History analyses showed that base isolation significantly increased the
fundamental time period and reduced base shear, inter-storey drift, peak floor acceleration, and roof
displacement. LRB exhibited slightly better seismic performance due to higher energy dissipation, while
HDRB provided smoother response behaviour. The results confirm that base isolation is an effective
method for improving the seismic resilience of RC buildings under Indian conditions.
