Description

Cyclaspoides flokkeri Mühlenhardt-Siegel, 2000

Fig. 5

Holotype.

Seychelles • ♀; Africa, Seychelles, Isle Praslin, PR 4 close to nature reserve; 0.5 m depth; 03 October 1996; Volker Siegel leg.; fine sand with a lot of plant detritus; ZMH -K-039800.

Paratypes.

* • 1 juv. + 4 ♂♂ + ♀ + 1 subA. ♀; same data as holotype; ZMH -K-039802.

Remarks.

Mühlenhardt-Siegel (2000) declared paratype material (1 juv. + 4 ♂♂ + ♀ + 1 subA. ♀); however, no collection numbers were assigned. In the original description, additional material is included under the collection numbers ZMH -K-039801 and ZMH -K-039802. The first includes specimens from stat. PR 1 and the second should include specimens from stat. PR 3 and PR 4. After checking the inner labels of ZMH -K-039802, we found only specimens from PR 4, which, in number and stage, coincide with those reported by Mühlenhardt-Siegel (2000) as Paratypes. Accordingly, we designated ZMH -K-039802 as the paratype.

Diagnosis.

Carapace inflated, ridge from anteromedial to dorsomedial part more pronounced in juveniles; pedigerous segments 1 and 2 fused with carapace, third “ free ” thoracic segments fused dorsally with carapace, side plates visible laterally; pseudorostrum short; antennal notch pronounced (after Mühlenhardt-Siegel 2000).

Distribution.

West Indian Ocean, Seychelles, 0.5–1 m depth.
