AI-Assisted Detection of Possible Khirigsuur Features

This dataset contains AI-assisted detections of possible khirigsuur archaeological features near 49.721759741537184, 100.27478764072417 in Mongolia.

Khirigsuurs are Bronze Age stone-built mortuary and ceremonial monuments known from Mongolia and Inner Asia. They are often associated with circular or rectangular stone settings, burial mounds, satellite features, and ritual landscapes connected to the broader Deer Stone–Khirigsuur archaeological tradition.

The detections were generated using Mustatil https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.20481111, an offline GIS-level AI vision workspace for annotation, YOLO training, large-image and satellite-image detection, web-map inspection, and GIS export. The dataset is intended to support archaeological prospection, remote sensing analysis, and further research into possible Bronze Age monument landscapes.

The uploaded files may include GIS-compatible detection data such as GeoPackage or GeoJSON files, bounding boxes or polygons, class labels, confidence values, preview images, and optional model output files.

These detections must be interpreted as candidate archaeological indications only. They are not confirmed archaeological sites. The results require careful visual assessment, comparison with satellite imagery, archaeological contextual interpretation, and, where possible, field verification. False positives may include natural stone formations, modern landscape disturbances, animal enclosures, tracks, roads, shadows, or other non-archaeological circular or mound-like features.
