ANALYSIS OF WELDING MATERIALS FOR IMPROVING THE SERVICE LIFE OF EXCAVATOR BUCKET TEETH

Description

This article analyzes the abrasive, impact, and corrosive wear processes occurring during the operation of excavator bucket teeth and investigates the effectiveness of surfacing welding materials used to increase their service life. During the study, the operating conditions of bucket teeth, loading characteristics, and the physical and mechanical properties of the base metal were taken into consideration. The composition of surfacing materials was evaluated, with particular attention given to the technological advantages of flux-cored wires capable of forming high-chromium and carbon carbide phases. Based on a comparative analysis of welding methods, the mechanized hardfacing process using flux-cored wire under shielding gas was identified as the most effective technological solution. The research results demonstrate the potential to extend the service life of excavator bucket teeth, reduce spare parts consumption, and improve the operational efficiency of machinery.
