Description

Nannastacus nasutus var. camelus Zimmer, 1914

Holotype.

Australia • ♀; Western Australia, Albany, Princess Royal Harbour, Hamburger südwest-australische Forschungsreise 1905 exped., stat. 061; 0.5–9 m depth; 21 August 1905 – 22 August 1905; J. Wilhelm Michaelsen leg.; teils Sandboden, teils an Pfählen der Landungsbrücken [partly sandy bottom, partly on piles of the jetty]; ZMH -K-016041.

Remarks.

Băcescu (1992) reported a female holotype deposited at the ZMB (no collection number assigned), same data as ZMH -K-016041. The ZMB Collection does not include Zimmer’s material of Nannastacus nasutus var. camelus (pers. comm. Antje Schwiering and Kristina von Rintelen, ZMB). Zimmer’s (1914) original description did not explicitly designate a holotype; however, his description is based on a single ovigerous female, which will then be the holotype fixed by monotypy (ICZN; Article 73, section 73.1. 2).

Diagnosis.

Carapace with protuberance between frontal lobe and hind margin in lateral view, otherwise like S. nasutus nasutus (after Zimmer 1914).

Distribution.

Southwest Australia and South Australia, 5.5–9 m depth.
