INTRODUCTION
- The Foundational Crisis
Modern fundamental physics rests on two pillars that are mathematically incompatible: general relativity (GR) describes gravity as the geometry of a smooth
continuous pseudo-Riemannian manifold, while quantum field theory (QFT) describes matter and gauge interactions as operator-valued distributions on a fixed
Minkowski background. Their union — the CDM concordance cosmology — requires the insertion by hand of two dominant but undetected components (cold
dark matter and a cosmological constant) that together constitute of the energy density, while leaving unanswered the origin of exactly three fermion
generations, the hierarchy of masses and mixings, the value of the fine-structure constant, the proton-electron mass ratio, and the black-hole information paradox.
The present work proposes a radical ontological shift: spacetime, matter, gauge fields, and even consciousness are emergent phenomena arising from a single
geometric structure — the scale-space soliton.
