Born under the Canopy of Bird Cherries - Southern Sweden

Description

A small herd of Mountain cattle is kept at Baskemölla Ecovillage in southern Sweden to help maintain an open landscape. The cattle produce highly nutritious milk (7–10 litres per day), while the rest is left for the calves during days and nights spent with their mothers on pasture. The milk is processed into yoghurt and cheese (halloumi) by the families alternating daily chores with the cattle. The mixed woodland provides natural shelter and improves living conditions for livestock while enhancing biodiversity. Photography: Maja Lindström Kling.
