Description

Preface

Business education today demands a strong integration of theoretical knowledge with practical application. Case studies play a vital role in bridging this gap by enabling students, researchers, and practitioners to analyze real-world business situations, develop critical thinking skills, and make informed managerial decisions. The present volume, “Business Case Studies in Contemporary Management”, is a collection of diverse and insightful case studies that reflect the dynamic and evolving nature of modern business environments.

This book brings together nineteen carefully selected case studies covering key functional areas of management such as marketing, finance, human resource management, organizational behaviour, strategic management, fintech, and project management. The cases explore contemporary issues including consumer behavior in online retailing, financial sector crises, currency volatility, geopolitical risks, digital transformation, workplace conflict in hybrid organizations, fintech innovation, and the challenges of scaling digital platforms.

Several cases focus on important developments in the Indian business environment, such as the bailout of YES Bank led by State Bank of India, the rise and fall of Café Coffee Day, and the rapid growth of quick-commerce companies like Zepto. Other cases examine global economic disruptions such as the financial implications of tensions involving Iran and the currency volatility triggered by the Russia–Ukraine War. These cases provide students with opportunities to understand how global events influence corporate decision-making and financial risk management.

The book also highlights organizational and managerial challenges faced by modern enterprises, including employee relations in high-growth technology firms, stress management in healthcare organizations, and the strategic decisions required in digital marketplaces and fintech innovation. Additionally, practical cases related to project management and retail location decisions offer valuable insights into operational and strategic planning.

Each case has been designed to encourage discussion, analysis, and problem-solving in the classroom. The cases are particularly useful for MBA, management, commerce, and business administration students, as well as faculty members who use case-based teaching methodologies.

The editors express their sincere appreciation to all contributors for their scholarly efforts in developing these cases. It is hoped that this volume will serve as a valuable academic resource that enhances analytical skills, stimulates meaningful discussion, and prepares students to address complex managerial challenges in an increasingly competitive and technology-driven business world.
