This working paper examines policy options for addressing flood risk in the Hutt Valley floodplain in the Wellington Region of New Zealand. It reviews the Hutt River Floodplain Management Plan and related literature, with attention to structural and non-structural measures, ecological value, land-use options, stakeholder engagement and open information.
