Sampling Events in Conservation Documentation
Description
This lightning talk was presented at the PID4NFDI Community Workshop on IGSN (June 4, 2026).
The talk introduces a use case from conservation science: within a LIDO-aligned metadata schema developed in NFDI4Objects (Task Area 4 – Protecting), physical sampling during conservation treatment is modelled as a dedicated event record, linking the sampling act to the object, the responsible person, and the institution via persistent identifiers. For the unique identification of the physical sample itself, IGSN appears to be a promising fit. The talk closes with an open invitation to the IGSN community to share experience and guidance.
