Description

Dicotylophyllum sp. 1

Fig. 15 A

Material.

NHMW collection Steinböck no. 25.

Description.

Leaf simple, ovate, trilobate, c. 60 mm long, c. 60 mm wide, base cordate, apex acuminate to attenuate, lobe shape ovate, central lobe with narrow attenuate apex, lateral lobes with acuminate apex, venation actinodromous, secondary and higher order venation not well preserved, secondary veins appearing brochidodromous, forming large loops.

Discussion.

This leaf shows some similarities with Hedera by its overall shape, leaf base, and lobe shape but differs by the venation pattern. Somewhat similar leaves were described as Trichosanthes by Kvaček et al. (2008) from Pliocene deposits of Alsace (France).
