Description.

Leaf simple, petiolate, petiole 6–8 mm long, lamina narrow elliptic, 70–100 + mm long, 20–30 mm wide, base obtuse, apex acute, primary venation pinnate, secondary venation eucamptodromous to brochidodromous, intersecondary veins present, departing from primary vein at lower angles than secondary veins, margin toothed, teeth small, glandular.

Discussion.

These leaves are accompanied by rare infructescences that may belong to the same species (Fig. 10 L). Salix varians is a typical riparian element and among the most abundant species in the leaf assemblage of Andritz. It was also recorded from the coeval Gratkorn clay pit (Hably and Meller 2017).
