Heinrich Weber, Lehrbuch der Algebra I-III — German transcription and English translation (working edition)

Lehrbuch der Algebra is Heinrich Weber's wide-ranging account of algebra at the turn of the twentieth century. Volume I develops polynomial arithmetic, determinants, algebraic equations and their roots, symmetric functions, invariant theory, numerical methods, substitutions, and the beginnings of Galois theory. Volume II treats finite groups and linear substitution groups and develops the theory of algebraic numbers. Volume III, also titled Elliptische Funktionen und algebraische Zahlen, studies elliptic integrals, theta and elliptic functions, transformation equations, quadratic fields, and algebraic functions.

This record provides a source-faithful German transcription together with an English working translation. The downloads include readable PDFs and buildable TeX sources for the individual volumes, as well as a combined German reader. The aim is to make Weber's mathematics searchable, typesettable, and usable by present-day readers while retaining the structure and notation of the printed books.

The edition is still undergoing a page-by-page comparison with the original scans. Demonstrable transcription or translation mistakes are corrected; errors and peculiarities that belong to Weber's printed text are retained and identified rather than silently rewritten.
