THE ROLE OF RECEPTIVE SKILLS IN DEVELOPING PRODUCTIVE SKILLS IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING

Learning English successfully requires the development of four important language skills: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. Listening and reading are called receptive skills because learners receive information through them. Speaking and writing are called productive skills because learners use language to express their ideas. These skills are closely connected to each other. Receptive skills help learners improve productive skills by providing vocabulary, grammar knowledge, pronunciation, and ideas for communication. This article discusses the important role of receptive skills in developing productive skills among English language learners. The article also explains how listening and reading activities support speaking and writing development in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms. The study shows that integrating receptive and productive skills helps learners become more confident and communicative users of English.
