Description

This presentation provides an overview of the Brazilian research stack and community efforts towards AI-Native RAN for 6G, delivered at the EuCNC & 6G Summit 2026 (Workshop 16). It outlines public and private-funded, industry-aligned ecosystem driven by three major national programs: Brasil 6G, OpenRAN@Brasil, and the SMARTNESS 2030 Engineering Research Center (a 10-year FAPESP-Ericsson partnership).  The presentation highlights key open-source software repositories, advanced testbed blueprints, and international dataset contributions. Additionally, it introduces the newly inaugurated SMARTNESS Studio 5G (SS5G) at UNICAMP, an indoor private 5G SA facility designed for experimentation. Finally, the talk maps existing and future international cooperation frameworks with the EU (e.g., SNS JU projects), showcasing Brazil’s readiness to federate testbeds, co-fund research, and contribute to global AI-RAN standardization.
