Filter Variants: Optimization metrics and filtered station observations for winter wheat (Triticum aestivum, DWD Plant ID 202) in Germany

What's new in v1.3.0

This version of the deposit is rebuilt against PhenoPhaseR v1.6.3 (doi:10.5281/zenodo.18743008). Data are byte-identical to the previous version. The change is in the crate manifest only.

What changed

• ro-crate-metadata.json no longer carries the AGROVOC controlled-vocabulary subject anchors (schema:about / dct:subject, the DefinedTerm entities, and the DefinedTermSet describing AGROVOC). Hand-curated AGROVOC URIs in earlier versions of _crop_specs.R were found to point at unrelated concepts on resolution against agrovoc.fao.org — e.g. the URI labelled "winter rye" resolved to "sawlogs", the URI labelled "phenology" resolved to "local authorities". Only the winter-wheat URI verified correctly. The controlled- vocabulary subject layer is therefore removed entirely rather than swapped for another vocabulary (Wikidata, GEMET), which would inherit the same verification burden.
• The RO-Crate profile claim is corrected from Workflow Run Crate (which the crates did not structurally satisfy — no `ComputationalWorkflow` entity, no `mainEntity` reference) to Process Run Crate (https://w3id.org/ro/wfrun/process/0.5), the WRROC base profile for software applications that contribute to the same overall computation without engine orchestration. The existing `CreateAction` with `instrument` pointing to the PhenoPhaseR software DOI already satisfies it unchanged.
• Subject anchoring is now exclusively via free-text schema:keywords / dcat:keyword (which Zenodo, OpenAIRE, BonaRes, and Google Dataset Search all index) and the GeoNames spatialCoverage URI (Federal Republic of Germany). The deposit remains valid RO-Crate 1.2; schema:about and dct:subject are optional in the profile.

What did not change

• All shapefiles in shapefiles/SHP_<plant>-<phase>.zip, byte-identical to the previous version.
• All OPT tables in opt_scores/ (OPT_ALL_<plant>.csv, OPT_MAX_<plant>.csv, OPT_<plant>_EXPONENTS.csv, plus the per-phase slices and diagnostic PDFs), byte-identical.
• The PROV-O lineage chain (input DWD data → PhenoPhaseR software → filter-variant outputs).
• The DQV quality measurements (per-phase, per-year, per-metric) and their SKOS bridges to ISO 19157-1.
• The role-aware creator list with ORCIDs and ROR affiliations.
• The conformsTo declaration of RO-Crate 1.2 base profile + Process Run Crate (https://w3id.org/ro/wfrun/process/0.5).
• The auto-written README.md and the self-contained ro-crate-preview.html (both regenerate against the v1.6.3 builder but their substantive content is unchanged for this deposit).

Status as canonical deposit

This is the reference deposit of the filter-variants family on Zenodo. Every other crop's filter-variants record points at this concept DOI (`10.5281/zenodo.19483111`) as the in-family sibling under *Is part of → Dataset*. Producing a new version here brings the canonical record into line with the AGROVOC-removed subject layer that the other crop records ship from the start.

The previously-published version of this record retains its original schema:about entries as historical record. It remains permanently citable at its version-specific DOI.
