Description

During the HALO-(AC)³ campaign in March and April 2022 downward looking lidar and cloud radar profiles were measured onboard of the High Altitude LOng range research aircraft (HALO) over the Arctic sea ice and ocean.

This sub-dataset for Research Flight 03 that took place on 2022/03/13 provides the downward looking profiles from the MIRA cloud radar, which is part of the HALO Microwave Package. The radar reflectivity was calibrated using laboratory measurements and the backscatter of the sea surface following Ewald et al (2019). The doppler velocity was corrected for platform-motion and contributions of the horizontal wind component contained in the original line-of-sight measurements. In addition, this sub-dataset provides ice cloud properties derived using the synergistic Varcloud retrieval in its configuration described in Cazenave et al (2019).
