Description
The CLARA testbed is an advanced distributed High-Performance and Quantum Computing (HPCQC) infrastructure developed for accelerating research in brain science and neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s disease. Established within the CLARA Center of Excellence, it combines high-performance computing, quantum computing, and artificial intelligence to create a hybrid environment capable of solving complex scientific problems beyond the reach of conventional supercomputers.
The platform will address key computational challenges such as modelling nonlinear biological systems, protein–protein interactions, molecular dynamics, and neural system simulations. By integrating these technologies, CLARA aims to remove current bottlenecks in understanding mechanisms behind neurodegeneration.
The proposed infrastructure will connect AI/HPCQC cluster provided by IT4Innovations, VSB – TUO, quantum and HPC systems from BAdW-LRZ, GPU cluster specialised for AI provided by CIIRC CTU and INDRC, and other research resources. It will support cross-system workflow orchestration and data management through the LEXIS Platform (https://docs.lexis.tech).
