BIM-Based Prefab Element Tracking - Lagemaat Demonstration - Three Pager
Authors/Creators
Description
The project's innovation was implemented in the CCN project through testing of the Reincarnate application in a real construction and refurbishment environment. The system combined BIM-based validation, QR-code interaction, and on-site testing. The application integrates IFC-based BIM data, QR codes, and linked project documentation. While BIM geometry was generally complete, important attributes and unique element IDs were often missing, limiting reliable QR–BIM linkage.
Existing QR codes were successfully used for element identification, and the BIM viewer enabled accurate object selection. The implementation supports CP-IM integration by linking physical construction processes with structured digital information flows. Key challenges included incomplete IFC data, missing element IDs, unreliable QR scanning, limited BIM navigation, and UI usability
constraints.
The results show that QR–BIM integration is feasible, but further improvements in data standardization, system integration, and usability are needed. As development follows an agile and iterative approach, the current results represent an initial stage of the project.
